On the 50th anniversary of the Independence of Mauritius, SBM has been organising a series of activities to mark this special occasion, one of which is a National Kite Festival.
In the past, designing, building and playing kites was a very popular leisure activity for Mauritians from all backgrounds around the country. Regardless of the age group, flying a kite was fun and bonded families and friends.
With the National Kite Festival, the SBM is initiating a platform to revive this traditional game and offer an opportunity for the new generation to discover a new outdoor leisure activity.
During the National Kite Festival that will be held on Sunday 5th August at La Prairie, a kite contest with 3 categories will take place, a Kite mending workshop under the guidance of a foreign Kite Expert will be held and there will also be a zone for fun Kite Flying.
